The Person Who Quit Too Soon"
One of the most common causes of failure is the habit of quitting when one is confronted with temporary defeat.
There is a famous story of a man consumed by "gold rush" fever who set out to find his fortune. After staking his claim and working for weeks, he struck gold! The man raised the necessary money for the machinery required to bring the gold to the surface and began operations. He soon found that he had one of the richest mines in the country! After a very strong and successful start, something happened the vein of gold disappeared. He drilled on, desperate to relocate the vein of gold, all to no avail. Finally, he quit and sold the machinery to a junk man for a few hundred dollars.
The junk man called in a mining engineer to study the mine. The engineer was surprised that a simple fault line in the gold vein had led the old owner to abandon the mine as depleted, because his calculations showed that the gold would be found "just three feet from where drilling had stopped". And that is exactly where the gold was found! The junk man made millions because he knew enough to seek expert advice or coaching before giving up, while the former owners had not. The moral of the story is when you have a problem, rather than quitting, ask for help. Get expert advice!
In Deborah.nu we have a similar story. A man we will call "X", excited by our opportunity in the early days, staked his claim by sponsoring in at least one person. His front line got off to a strong start, filed their Letter of Intent and went on to become executives. But something happened. Perhaps "X" felt he had run out of prospects? Perhaps several of his closest friends or family told him that the business wouldn't work? Perhaps he ran into a string of people who all said, "no"? We do not know why he quit; but, had he asked for counsel, his upline and Deborah.nu leaders would have advised him that he was three feet from gold, and that he was working in the right direction, and to continue in spite of adversity.
The rest of the story is that his front line went on to great success. "X" had no way to know that he had struck gold when, before he had quit the business, John and Giselle joined on his second level. Over the next fifteen years John and Giselle built a huge international organization that would have benefited him (as the upline) for many years to come, had he only persisted a little longer. There are dozens, if not hundreds, of similar stories of people who started out well, but then for whatever reason quit the business just before an enormous surge in growth and volume came into the business they abandoned. Do not let it happen to you.
Before real long-term success comes in any distributors life, they are sure to meet with adversity, rejection and negative people. Attrition within the distributor force is a fact of life. When people say no, when some of your downline quit, when life gets in the way, the easiest thing to is to quit. Sometimes quitting even seems logical. After all, at the beginning of the business, what is there to lose? There aren't any executives in the group yet, there isn't much volume, so there really isn't much to lose if a person quits. Do not allow yourself to become so shortsighted. Remember, the whole idea behind joining the business was to expand your income and freedom to fit your dreams, not to shrink your dreams to fit your income! Unfortunately in the face of adversity most people find it easier to shrink their dreams than to persevere, often when success is just within reach. In Deborah.nu we follow Winston Churchill's famous six words of advice "Never, Never, Never, Never, Never Quit"
Every adversity, every unpleasant experience, every failure is a learning experience and carries with it the seed of an equivalent or greater benefit.
