GOING THE EXTRA MILE IS THE DEFINING ATTRIBUTE OF ALL SUCCESSFUL LEADERS.

This is so because of the two natural laws that rule all of our business building efforts. The first of these laws is that: You Reap What You Sow. Using this classic farming metaphor it is easy to see how the larger crop you plant (the number of people with whom you share the business or products, the number of customers you serve and the extra time you spend in support of your group's efforts) entitles you to expect a larger harvest (volumes, pin level promotions and recognition).

The second of these natural laws, is: The Law of Diminishing Returns. The truth is that, as a statistical average, groups of distributors tend to do less in pursuit of their business goals than the leaders they are trying to emulate. Although we believe almost anyone has the ability to become great leaders in our business, sadly it is only a rare few individuals who are willing to step up to leadership and go the extra mile themselves. Most target the minimum requirements for achieving their executiveship or maintaining a pin level and then are disappointed or surprised by receiving minimum returns on their efforts. Furthermore, if they only aim for bare minimums and their people do less than is required, then by the law of diminishing returns, their business will eventually dwindle away.

Going the extra mile is best implemented in three main areas -- empowerment, genuine caring and recognition.

Empowerment is giving others the power to reach their dreams. This power requires skills and belief, or self-confidence in one's ability to apply these skills. Second, it shows everyone that you are paying attention to what is going on and are aware of who is (and who is not) following the path to success. Third, it keeps people focused and reminds everyone of what is (and is not) productive activity.

Last, and possibly most important of all, by going the extra mile you issue a challenge to all the aspiring leaders in your group to rise to ever higher levels of excellence and performance.
